I made up what I call a teather line. It's basicly a Y line with the double end going under the front of the layout boat and the leg or single line of the Y hooking to the back of your tender or tow rig. When I start to motor the front end lifts out of the water and follows great.
It's not a supermag but it does work on most layout boats I've seen. You have to play around with the length of the straight line to get the best performance out of it. Try it it may work. Otherwise talk to Mark from MLB and see what he recomends, he's a very nice guy and a personal friend I'm sure he would be willing to help in any way. You could also go to the MLB forum and ask there too, I'm sure others have had the same issue over the years and probably have a proven way to tow theres. Hope this helps.

We use a boom system to tow Bankes pumpkinseeds. Granted.our tenders are not big (15'ers) so putting the boat across the bow is NOT an option. Bro in law came up with the plan.and it works great.
2 1/2' wide piece of handrail from Home Depot. Cut the handrail so that about a foot overhangs the port side of the boat, then about 3-4' on the starboard side. Add oar locks to the handrail so that it fits. Within a foot or so of the end of the starboard side, add a U-bolt clamp to the underside of the handrail. Attach a 10' piece of chain and carabeaner to this (length of chain will vary depeding upon how far back the U-bolt sits under the nose of the layout). Be sure to put a cross bolt/nut in the bottom hole of the oar lock post to prevent them from pulling out of the oar locks. Once you see the system in place, you will understand why this step is crucially important.
Launch your tender, then turn it around. Take the layout boat and clip the carabeaner to the U-bolt under the nose. Set the nose of the layout on top of the boom. The driver needs to pay attention when first starting out to watch so that the layout doesn't bang against the tender. Under normal conditions, you'll be able to run about 3/4 speed. The layout boat should eventually 'kick out' over the starboard wake from the tender. The reason for the chain is that should the nose of the layout slip off the boom.it will still be attached.
We've also hung a boat bumper off the starboard corner to keep the layout from banging against the tender. Go slow to start.
There is a learning curve that is involved here. Once you arrive at your destination, the driver simply leans out and unclips the layout from the boom (this would also make the length of the distance to the layout crucial.you don't want it too long or you won't be able to reach it). Oh.be sure to attach your layout anchor to the layout boat prior to taking off from the launch. Once the layout boat is unhooked, grab the anchor out from inside the layout boat and toss it. We un-do the boom while tending, as it's in the way. Take the cross-bolts out of the oarlock posts and lay the boom inside the boat.
The boom also makes for a fine utensil for snagging longlines while picking up, and also to flip over dekes that get hung up in the longline and such. We also have a longer boom that can be used to tow two layouts at the same time from one tender. You MUST support the center of the boom with the dual-two layout boat program though.so we use a ratchet strap that goes under the center seat and up and over the boom to assist with that problem. I don't have any pics.but I tried to describe it as best as I could. Hope that helps. You've got to remember (and I did not read this whole thread) the 'front' of a layout boat is the back.
Tow the MLB SuperMag from the 'back'. The end that would be behind you while hunting. Tow it short, and from one edge of your tender. When I say short, I mean 4 feet back, the wake will lift it and keep it from subbing.
